media censorship at G20

One reason why I think the accreditation process is corrupt. Reporters who do not report on capitalist, neoliberal, Washington Consensus party line, or are simply critical of those in power, are often excluded from access to information and power. I am unaccredited and independent, and proud of it.

Turkish newspapers were denied access* for covering the G20 summit here in Antalya, Turkey. The news outlets not granted accreditation were Today’s Zaman and Sözcü dailies, who have been critical of President Erogan. This issue came up in Turkish parliament today.

* UPDATE: The link to this news story in Today’s Zaman is no longer valid, because the Turkish government seized control of the newspaper’s website and offices in March 2016, following a raid of the offices. That’s what free speech means to the Turkish government!
